Description Descripcion en espanol

The Taino indians were the inhabitants of the island of Hispaniola (comprising today what is modern Haiti and Dominican Republic) when Columbus arrived in America. Due to disease and mistreatment the Tainos were eradicated from Hispaniola within a century, although some of their culture remain apparent in today's Dominican culture.

Tainos: Sus Huellas en el Caribe serves as an introduction to their history, culture and contributions to the Dominican culture with colorful illustrations, and a language that is easily understood by young readers. Adults might find the book useful as a first-step reading on the subject.
